Lead(II) Carbonate Basic CAS#1319-46-6

High Stability: Remains stable under normal temperature and pressure conditions, ensuring reliability during storage and use.

Controlled Thermal Behavior: Undergoes predictable decomposition at elevated temperatures, useful in applications requiring thermal processing.

Chemical Reactivity: Soluble in strong acids like acetic and nitric acid, allowing for versatile chemical applications.

Distinctive Reaction to Hydrogen Sulfide: Reacts gradually to form a characteristic black compound, which can be useful for specific industrial processes or detection purposes.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Lead (II) carbonate basic is a dense white powder with a hexagonal crystal structure. It is insoluble in water and ethanol but readily dissolves in strong acids such as acetic acid and nitric acid. The compound remains stable under standard temperature and pressure. Upon heating to 220°C for four hours, about 9% of its carbon dioxide content decomposes, converting 95% of the substance into PbCO3⋅PbOPbCO_{3} \cdot PbO. At 400°C, it further decomposes into lead oxide with the release of carbon dioxide. When exposed to hydrogen sulfide, it gradually blackens, forming 4PbCO3⋅PbS⋅Pb(OH)24PbCO_{3} \cdot PbS \cdot Pb(OH)_{2}.
